Rock Around the Dock for Autism May 3
The Sixth Annual Rock Around the Dock for Autism is a Margaritaville-style event hosted at The Shrimp Dock Bearden on Friday, May 3 and will include live entertainment; a Cajun shrimp boil; a silent auction; and complimentary wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages, side dishes and dessert. Proceeds benefit the Autism Society of East Tennessee. The Shrimp Dock Bearden is located at 5210 Kingston Pike. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.
Knoshville Jewish Food Festival May 5
Knoshville brings together every Jewish organization in the Knoxville and Oak Ridge area in celebration and appreciation of Jewish foods and cuisine. (The event’s name is a play on the Yiddish word “nosh,” which means to snack or nibble.) The event takes place on May 5 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Arnstein Jewish Community Center. Foods include bagels and lox (smoked salmon), shakshuka (Middle Eastern spicy baked egg dish), bundt cakes; “black and white” cookies, mandelbrot (it’s like biscotti, but better), potato latkes (pancakes), potato knishes (delicious filling covered with dough and baked or fried), matzah ball soup (dumplings in broth) and challah (Jewish egg bread).
