For me September has always been a transition month. With warm days and cool nights, it previews the upcoming autumn. People are getting back into the routine of school and work and looking forward to upcoming fall events like Friday night lights, Saturday college football, tailgates and cookouts.

Many also look forward to new fashions, and in our fall fashion photo shoot, “The Last Warm Night,” we showcase garments and accessories from local boutiques Fancy Rascal, Marc Nelson Denim, Bliss/Tori Mason Shoes, Hillbilly Gypsy Boots and Patricia Nash Designs with models provided by Gage Talent. Personal style is a reflection of your personality, lifestyle and taste, and we look to help put your best foot forward.

In Hot Spot, we bring you “Frozen Yogurt for Everyone,” the story of Emmy’s, which speaks to inclusivity of ingredients for those with dietary needs and why the McIntyres decided to open the shop. In our Giving Back feature, “Designed for Dignity,” we talk to Angel Wings Memory Gowns, an organization that uses donated wedding dresses to make gowns for newborns that do not make it home. It is volunteer-run, and the organization’s big gala is this month. Andrew Henderson is back in Healthy Lifestyle’s “Bouncing Back” with tips on recovering from an injury.

So, whether you consider yourself a fashionista and are looking for new wardrobe pieces, want to support a new local business, can volunteer or donate to a nonprofit or need some help with an injury, this issue has all of this and more. We are excited to present it to you, our readers.

As always, we give a big thank you to our marketing partners and ask you to do the same.

Questions or comments are welcome.

Happy fall, West Knoxville!
